FatCow Integrates Google Custom Search (February 12, 2009) - Providing Google's game-changing search technologies to their customer's individual sites, web hosting provider FatCow (www.fatcow.com) has incorporated Google Custom Search technologies into its shared web hosting services, making it easy for customers to incorporate valuable search capabilities.
According to FatCow's Wednesday announcement, customers can manage Google's free Custom Search script directly from their hosting control panel. Also, for an extra fee, customers can upgrade to Google Site Search for enhanced controls over branding, presentation and indexing. This is an interesting new value-added service that other hosts may be interested in adding to their shared hosting plans.
"FatCow is among the first hosts to integrate Google Custom Search," FatCow product management vice president Mitch Haber said in a statement. "Not only is Google Custom Search the best customizable search engine available, it's quick and easy to implement, and is free with any FatCow account."
According to FatCow's research, quality site search capabilities improves user experience, engagement and conversion rates, which is one of the reasons why FatCow chose to implement Google search tool.
"Our goal at Google is to engineer ease and simplicity across the board, from the user who is searching, to the Webmaster who is building," Google Custom Search group product manager Rajat Mukherjee said in a statement. "Having Google Custom Search and Google Site Search integrated into FatCow is a tremendous leap forward in providing more Webmasters access to Google search technologies, and improving user experience on the Web."
FatCow customers can now add a customized site-search box, which can search the customer site, a group of select sites, or the wider Internet. It also incorporates Google AdSense to generate additional revenue.
SubmitNet Integrates SEO Tools into Plans (January 19, 2009) - Search engine optimization and marketing platform provider SubmitNet (www.submitnet.net) announced on Monday it has integrated its online marketing tools into the packages offered by several leading Web hosting companies.
Through its partnership with Web hosting providers, such as IPOWER (www.ipower.com), FatCow (www.fatcow.com), PowWeb (www.powweb.com) and BizLand (www.bizland.com), SubmitNet has launched a free, integrated online marketing management solution.
As a result, customers of these partnered web hosts will be able to manage multiple SEO tools directly from one single interface within their respective customer control panel.
Using SubmitNet's search engine marketing platform, customers can access up to 15 website optimization tools to analyze, submit and monitor their search engine position, depending on their hosting plan.

FatCow Makes Quality Support Pledge (December 11, 2008) - Web hosting provider FatCow (http://www.fatcow.com/) announced on Tuesday it has "pledged to provide customers with a positive support experience."
FatCow, which celebrated its 10th anniversary in October, announced last month it expanded its hosting offerings to include unlimited disk space, unlimited monthly bandwidth, as well as introducing the FatCow QuickStart Wizard, a new solution designed to appeal to individuals and small businesses new to web hosting.
The pledge, which the company labels the "HeiferCratic Oath (www.fatcow.com/fatcow/heifercratic.bml)," specifies certain criteria the company intends to meet in providing quality customer support.
This ranges from answering calls in under two minutes, immediately resolving issues or setting stringent deadlines for follow-up, offering phone support based exclusively in North America, and a guarantee that its support staff, which it playfully refers to as the Moo Crew, will be "friendly, courteous and knowledgeable."
Judging by the press release, the oath appears to be FatCow's version of a service level agreement, a formally defined contract that guarantees a certain performance level.
"We're certainly not in the business of saving lives, but we do recognize that our customers depend on us to provide them with quality service and support," says Paul Bukhovko, FatCow's marketing manager. "For many customers, their businesses - their livelihoods - are tied to their websites, and we take that responsibility very seriously."
The oath also stipulates that if customers are not satisfied with their support experience, a customer support employee, or "Moo Crew investigator," will review potential violations of the oath and award an account credit of one month of hosting service to each customer that has had a negative support contact.
Founded in 1998, FatCow has been providing shared Web hosting solutions for individuals and small to medium sized businesses.
The company is currently offering a new plan, priced at $78 a year, that provides customers with unlimited email accounts, point-and-click site-creation tools, easy-to-install blogs and forums, e-commerce capabilities and search engine advertising credits.
